Y.V. Prasad

Has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Metallurgy from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India in the year 1971, and is a Professor in the Department of Metallurgy, IISc.  His current research interests include Materials processing, powder metallurgy & manufacturing.  Before 1983, he worked on structure-property correlations, thermally activated flow and dislocation dynamics (before 1972). He has published over 190 original research papers in these various topics. He  teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on several subjects in the area of Mechanical behavior of materials ever since he joined IISc in 1966. was created with the intention of popularizing  the use of processing maps by researchers and industrial practitioners for solving problems encountered in high temperature processing of materials.

Has a bachelor’s degree in Science from Mysore University in 1964 and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University in 1972.  He joined IISc in the year 1973 and has specialized in mechanical testing and heat treatment.  With the procurement of servohydraulic testing facilities in 1982 and 1986, he was trained in UK for operating and maintaining computer controlled mechanical testing facilities, which now include “Instron” and “Dartec” machines.  He is a specialist in conducting hot compression tests and has introduced many innovations for accomplishing the testing in a fast, efficient and accurate manner.

Has a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore in 1992 and a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, in 1994.  He joined IISc in the year 1995 and is the systems manager and webmaster for the Department of Metallurgy, IISc.  His research interests are in the area of Expert Systems and Artificial intelligence as applied to metal processing.  He is in-charge of hardware and software, essential for the processing maps program.

Srikanth is an undergraduate in Management Information Systems (MIS) at Wright State University, Ohio and desires to be be a Systems Analyst.
